Connecting From Off Campus

Accessing Resources via Open Athens:

When accessing databases, journals, etc. you will be redirected to a login page.

  • Click the option that matches your relationship to the University (e.g., student, faculty, staff).

  • Enter your username and password when prompted.

    • For UT Tyler students, faculty, or staff, this experience should be just like signing in to Canvas or your UT Tyler email.

Note: Some databases have a slightly different setup.

Look for OpenAthens login, Institutional Login, or a Parthenon logo to find the place to enter your credentials.

Can't Access Library Resources? Try the Virtual Desktop!

If firewalls or other technical issues prevent you from connecting directly, the virtual desktop offers a solution.

Here's how to access it:

  1. Visit: https://one.uttyler.edu/
  2. Log in with your UT Tyler email and password (including DUO verification).
  3. If your Favorites page is empty, click "Apps" and find "Horizon Desktop."
    Note: This might appear as a nested browser window. Simply maximize it for a better view.
  4. Open a browser within the desktop and access library resources as usual!

Contact us! To expedite troubleshooting, please provide the following details:

Source of the access issue: Where did you encounter the error (SwoopSearch, Database A-Z list, syllabus link, etc.)?

Error details: Copy and paste the error message or provide a screenshot with the URL.

Previous access: Have you accessed library resources successfully before?

UT Tyler access: Can you access other UT Tyler services like Canvas or your email?
