Nursing

This guide is designed to inform the UT Tyler Community about resources for studies in all aspects of Nursing.

You can use Robert R. Muntz Library resources even if your classes are not at the main Tyler campus!

  • Library resources are largely digital.
    • Search our catalog and/or databases to access digital titles.
  • We will mail physical items to your home.
    • Simply submit a request through interlibrary loan (ILL) as though the item is not in our catalog, and we will mail the item to you!
    • Materials not held by Muntz Library can be requested through ILL and mailed to you as well.
    • Physical course reserves and archival materials excluded.
  • We can email book chapters (copyright permitting).
    •   Need a chapter from a book we have on the shelf at Muntz Library, or an item we have on microfilm or microfiche?
      • Email your librarian the citation and they can likely scan/print the item and email it to you! Keep in mind that copyright restrictions prevent us from scanning entire books, but we can usually do a chapter.
  • Virtual research instruction is always available!
    • Email your librarian for an appointment via Zoom or TEAMS.
    • I am happy to guide you through the research process or help you troubleshoot technical issues.

Additional distance services are described below.

Interlibrary Loan

InterLibrary Loan (ILL) service allows students to borrow items from other libraries. If Muntz Library does not have what you need, simply submit a request for a book, journal article, conference paper, etc. and we will try to find it for free!

First time users will need to register. Register Here

Good inter-library relationships are essential for academic libraries to function. When you receive an ILL item, please note:

  • Copyright notices on electronic resources.
  • Due dates on physical items.
    • There is a $1 per day, per item late fee for ILL items.
    • Please ensure that you put items in the mail with enough time for them to get to us by the due date!

Email ill@uttyler.edu for any questions about using interlibrary loan.

TexShare

TexShare is another service that allows you to borrow items from other libraries. However, you will browse and pick up your items at the lending library.

Fill out the TexShare card application from the library website. You can scan and email the application to the circulation desk (circulation@uttyler.edu), but you must use your Patriots email account to do so! Your card will be mailed to you.

With your card you can borrow from most university and public libraries in your area. Please note that you may need a UT Tyler ID in addition to your TexShare card. For specific information on the borrowing privileges, use this page to find libraries near you. Once you have selected a library, click on the "See TexShare Card Lending Policy" link to find out what you need to bring with you, how many items you may borrow, and how long you can use them.

Access Issues?

Select the image to visit our Connecting from Off Campus/Open Athens guide. It demonstrates how to use Open Athens (our user-authentication system), troubleshoots common issues, and explains how to use the Virtual Desktop

  • Sometimes you may not be able to connect because of firewalls or other configuration issues beyond your control.
When that happens, go to the virtual desktop!
