"Historical artifacts of Smith County, including newspapers, city directories, school records, photographs, maps, historical papers, rare books and much more." Open 10-4, Tuesday-Friday, Saturday by appointment. Call 903-592-5993. Located at 125 South College just north of Tyler Public Library in the old Carnegie Building.

Local/family history room is on the third floor, with special collections, microfilm, reference books, and vertical files of clippings. Hours: Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Local History room closed Sundays.

"Retired" records for Smith County are housed in the basement of the old Cotton Belt building, corner of W. Front and Glenwood. All deeds, probate, and marriages remain at the Smith County annex building, corner N. Spring and E. Ferguson.

Includes many resources for Gregg and surrounding counties.
