If we don't have what you're looking for, try requesting it through InterLibrary Loan (ILL)! ILL is a service that allows students to borrow items from other libraries, if Muntz Library doesn't have it. You submit a request for a book, journal article, conference paper, whatever type of source you need, and we see if we can find it for free!
Please note that ILL relationships are very important for academic libraries to function. We need to be respectful of the lending terms set by other libraries. This includes the copyright notices on electronic resources. For print, pay close attention to the due date on the item. To ensure that due dates are taken seriously, there is a $1 per day, per item late fee for ILL items.
The Robert R. Muntz Library offers thousands of books, available in print and electronic formats. If you know you're specifically looking for books, use Advanced Search to narrow your topic by material type.
Circulating print books (ones you can check out) are available in the 3rd floor stacks, to the right when you go up the stairs. If you'd like to browse, we do use the Library of Congress Classification system, and there is a poster with an outline of the subjects by letter on the 3rd floor. Engineering books are mostly in category T-Technology.
The library does carry reference, or books that can't be checked out, on the 2nd floor.
Our eBooks are spread over many collections and unfortunately, few of the providers seem to agree on a way to provide electronic content for libraries. You can do a search in our main search box (See: Books, Articles & More tab), or look in specific eBook collections. The best bets for eBooks are:
A Note About eBooks:
Some of our vendors offer what is called demand-driven acquisition, or dda. You may find a book you're interested in, but get a message that you can only read the book for 5 minutes then you must request it from your library. This allows you to peruse the books available in the publisher's catalog without us having to purchase every book. We do often end up purchasing books recommended this way, but please take that five minutes to look through the book to ensure it meets your needs. If so, email your librarian with the information about the book - we'll see what we can do!
Sometimes you'll find a book in the catalog that says it is not available. This usually means that the publisher has removed the book from their catalog, but it hasn't updated yet on our end. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please submit an ILL request for any book you need!
