Getting Started with BrowZine

To view library-licensed full-text articles (PDFs) via BrowZine while off campus or on the campus wifi network, users must be logged onto the library VPN.

How do I use Browzine?

Browzine can be accessed through the web (linked on the University of Texas at Tyler libraries page) or through a mobile app. Users will need to log into their UT Tyler library account in order to have full access to the libraries' resources. 

There are several key features that Browzine offers designed to enhance the experience of browsing and reading scholarly journals:

  1. Journal Browsing: Users can browse journals by subject, title, or ISSN, making it easy to find specific journals or explore new ones
  2. Customizable Bookshelves: Create personal bookshelves to track favorite journals and receive notifications when new issues are published
  3. Access to Current and Back Issues: Seamlessly access both current and back issues of journals, with content typically available from 2005 onwards
  4. Table of Contents and Article Viewing: Easily view tables of contents and read or save articles from new issues
  5. Offline Reading and Article Saving: Save articles for offline reading and organize them for quick access later
  6. Integration with Bibliographic Tools: Export citations and integrate with tools like Zotero and EndNote for efficient reference management.

How to use on devices

BrowZine Using Web Browser

BrowZine will automatically detect if you are on campus and select your library; if off-campus, you will be prompted initially to select Univeristy of Texas at Tyler library.
If you have a BrowZine account already, you can log in to sync between the desktop and app versions.

1. Open your favorite web browser.
2. Go to browzine.com.
3. Click Choose My Library
4. Select University of Texas at Tyler
5. Go to Settings.
6. Under BrowZine Account, click Login
7. Click Sign In or Sign up create an account. 
8. Browse journals by clicking BrowZine Library, or search for journal by title, subject, or ISSN. Add journals to your bookshelf by clicking on a journal, then clicking Add To My Bookshelf.

Browzine App for Smart Phones/Tablets

1. Download the free BrowZine app by going to the app store for your device and search for "BrowZine."
2. Select University of Texas at Tyler (Students/Staff/ Faculty) from the library list.   If Preceptor choose one labeled preceptor.
3. You will be prompted to log in with the account you created in the Browzine web app.

How do I see My Bookshelf and/or add titles to My Bookshelf?

On the web you need to first login to your BrowZine Account to either see or edit My Bookshelf.  To do this, simply click on the link for "My Bookshelf" in the menu bar and you will see a login link.

Then, when you navigate to a title, you will see a new option available to you to add the title to My Bookshelf.

Once you click this button the title will be added to the next available open slot on My Bookshelf.

How do I move journals around on My Bookshelf?

To move a journal on your bookshelf in BrowZine Web, hover your cursor over the journal's cover image until a small icon appears in the top-right corner:
