Have you searched SwoopSearch but UT Tyler doesn't own the specific article or book you need? Let us get it for you with Interlibrary Loan (ILL)!
Your account is created the first time you sign in. On the Library website, scroll down and click on Borrow from another library or visit the ILL webpage. Enter your University email and password when prompted. If you experience problems or have an account but cannot log in, please call Interlibrary Loan Services at 903.566.7396 or e-mail ill@uttyler.edu.
You will receive an email from Interlibrary Loan Services (ILS) stating that your interlibrary loan has arrived. For additional questions or inquiries, contact ILS by email (ill@uttyler.edu) or phone (903-566-7396).
Interlibrary Loan is available to current UT Tyler students, faculty and staff only. Community members should contact their public library for interlibrary loan service.
Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a resource-sharing system that enables you to request books and articles from another library. Muntz Library provides interlibrary loan services to all current students, faculty, and staff. For more information visit Interlibrary Loan on our web page.
The amount of time it takes to receive an ILL depends on the type of request placed, the lending libraries’ speed in processing, and the method of delivery (electronic delivery, courier, or US Postal Service). Articles are usually delivered electronically, which means the request may be filled within one to two business days. Hard to find articles will take longer. Books, musical scores, media items, and other physical items may take four to seven business days. Items requested from out-of-state libraries and hard to find items will take longer.
There is no charge for using Interlibrary Loan Services except when borrowing results in charges from the lending library. ILS staff will contact you if there are any applicable charges.
Current students, faculty, and staff with library accounts can request books or article copies not in our collection.
(Items like reference books, rare materials, audiovisuals, theses, and textbooks usually aren’t available.)
Before placing a request, search our catalog via SwoopSearch to make sure we don’t already have it. For help, ask your subject librarian or the Help Desk (903.566.7396).
