This guide is a supplement to our library sessions this semester. It is here as a resource for review and a springboard to follow up session recommendations.
Library Tech To Do List
Select the links for step-by-step instructions on setting up the following tools:
If you found a citation for the perfect book or article but can not access it through UT Tyler, we can request it from another library
via ILL for free. A one-time account set-up must be completed before a request can be made.
Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature but some resources in the results list ask for a login or payment. Linking Google Scholar to UT Tyler ensures easier access to resources that the library already subscribes to.
This browser extension provides easier access to articles you find in PubMed and other scholarly publisher websites. This tool takes you directly to the article or informs you if it must be requested through ILL.
Sciwheel is an online reference manger that allows you to collect and organize all of your research in one location easily. A supplemental document explaining installation & usage is linked.
Additional Account Recommendations
Creating accounts provides "insurance" if your search session times out and allows you to save searches.
Cochrane Library/Wiley Account
PubMed (National Library of Medicine)
MyEBSCOHost Account
Works for CINAHL as well as all other EBSCOHost databases.
