Cambridge Read & Publish

The University of Texas System has made an agreement with Cambridge University Press to support Open Access (OA) publishing. As part of this 3-year agreement the UT Tyler Library has gained access to all Cambridge University Press journal content.

Often referred to as a Read & Publish Agreement, it aims to serve authors and the wider community by publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed OA content. This waives publishing fees for authors who wish to publish in OA Cambridge University journals.

Which Cambridge journals are covered by the Read & Publish agreement?
This agreement secures reading access to Cambridge's full package of journals, 403 titles in 2021. Publishing rights are guaranteed to all hybrid and gold OA journals – in 2021, the OA status of titles on our list is as follows:

How can authors identify themselves as being affiliated with a participating institution? Is there a limit to the number of articles that can be published open access under this agreement?
No. The UT System has an uncapped agreement, which places no limit on the number of articles that can be published open, by eligible corresponding authors in eligible journals.

The corresponding author must use their institutional affiliation (ideally with an Orcid ID), including institutional email address, when submitting their article. Upon acceptance of their article by a journal, the corresponding author should then complete and submit the journal’s relevant OA author publishing agreement and select the creative commons license which will determine how readers can use their article. During a subsequent production process, the article will then be mapped as eligible under a read and publish agreement. Corresponding authors affiliated with participating UT institutions, publishing research articles in eligible journals, will have their APC fully covered by their institution.

The corresponding author is defined as:
The person who handles the manuscript and correspondence during the publication process – from manuscript correction and proof reading, to handling the revisions and re-submission of revised manuscripts up to the acceptance of the manuscripts. The author has the authority to act on behalf of all co-authors in all matters pertaining to publication of the manuscript including supplementary material.
