Reference Books

You can use these encyclopedias to search for many terms, places, and people related to anthropology. 

Library of Congress classification

For anthropology, most books you will want to use are located in the following classifications: 

     BF = Psychology

     BL - BX = Religion

     CB = History of civilization

     CC = Archaeology

     D - DH = World history

     G = Geography

     GF = Human ecology, Anthrogeography

     GN = Anthropology

     GR = Folklore

     HC = Economic history and conditions

     HM = Sociology (General)

     HN = Social history and conditions, Social problems, Social reform

     HQ = The family, Marriage, Women

     HT = Communities, Classes, Races

     ML = Literature on music

     N - NX = Fine arts

     P = Philology, Linguistics

     PA - PM = World languages

     QM - QP = Human anatomy, Physiology

     S = Agriculture (General)

All of the circulating books in these classifications (i.e., those you can check out) are located on the 3rd floor of the library. 

All of the reference books in these classifications (i.e., those you cannot check out) are located on the 2nd floor of the library.
