Faculty services at the library

** Attention all faculty and teaching assistants! **

There are a number of services the library offers you and we encourage you to take full advantage of them.

Library instruction.  If you would like your students to learn more about how to use the library and its resources, I can visit your classroom or you can bring your students to the library's instructional classroom. In my instruction section(s), I go over basics about finding books and articles, using the library catalog and database systems, and discuss the services the library offers to students. My sessions can be general or specific, depending on your needs. I tailor my sessions around your class goals, objectives, and assignements. We can do as many sessions as you would like. I also create additional resources for your class in a variety of method for reference and provide ongoing support for the students after the library session.

To set up a one-time library instruction session, send me an e-mail. At minimum, please give me a one week notice so I can ensure my availability and adequately prepare. The earlier you let me know, the better.

Find out more about what instruction related services we offer by visiting our Instruction Program webpage.

Reserves.  If you would like to place an item on reserve for your class(es), visit the Library Reserves webpage to learn more. We also have a  Perpetual Reserve, if you send us a copy of your current textbook, we can place it on perpetual reserve to be used by your class until you take it off of reserve. You will need to fill out and submit the reserves form to our Circulation department. For questions, you can also contact Circulation directly by phone at 903-566-7342 or by e-mail.

Interlibrary loan.  If you need books and/or articles for your research that the library does not own or have access to, visit the ILL webpage and submit your requests via the ILLiad system. For questions, you can also contact our ILL department directly by phone at 903-566-7396.

Item purchase suggestions.  All faculty may submit purchase requests for books, media, and other materials. Send me an e-mail at vdubre@uttyler.edu during any point of the year, with your requests and I will add them to the library's purchase lists. I cannot guarantee that every suggestion will be purchased, as fluctuating costs of items and available funding are factors taken into consideration when making decisions. But, I can add the item(s) to our purchase lists for future consideration. If you like, you can read more about our Collection Development Policy.
