InterLibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that allows students to borrow items from other libraries, if Muntz Library doesn't have it. You submit a request for a book, journal article, conference paper - whatever type of source you need - and we see if we can find it for free!
Please note that ILL relationships are very important for academic libraries to function. We need to be respectful of the lending terms set by other libraries. This includes the copyright notices on electronic resources. For print, pay close attention to the due date on the item. To ensure that due dates are taken seriously, there is a $1 per day, per item late fee for ILL items. Please ensure that you put items in the mail with enough time for them to get to us by the due date!
For our distance students, those not taking in-person classes at the main Tyler campus, you can also have Muntz Library materials delivered to your home. Simply submit the request through ILL as though the item is not in our catalog, and we will mail the item to you!
If you have any questions about using interlibrary loan, please email: ill@uttyler.edu
If you are looking for a chapter from a book we have on the shelf at Muntz Library, or an item we have on microfilm or microfiche, just email your librarian the citation and they can possibly scan/print the item and email it to you! Keep in mind that copyright restrictions prevent us from scanning entire books, but we can usually do a chapter.
Databases are collections of many different materials about a particular subject. There is no single "right" way to search a database, but we do have some tips that can help you find what you are looking for faster. Check out our Database Searching Basics Guide for more information on using these resources.
