The Bibliography of Smith County, Texas, is broken down into time periods as well as topics:

Civil War--Secession (1860-Feb. 1861) 

Civil War--General  (as well as subdivisions for Camp Ford, Ordnance Works, and Units Raised in Smith County)

Reconstruction (1865-1871)

History:  1872-1899

Spanish-American War

History:  1900-1928

World War I

Depression (1929-1940)

World War II


Korean War

Vietnam War

Of course all of the topical files fall somewhere within these date ranges, so if you are working on the Depression in Smith County, you will also need to look at Biography, Education, Business, Industry, etc.
