Engineering: Interlibrary Loan

What is InterLibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service the library provides to all of its students and faculty.

When the UT Tyler library does not have a book or article that you want, you can submit a request for it to our ILL department. They will do their best to try to get you a copy at no cost to you.

If you need to ILL something, please follow the directions in the next box over.

How to Use ILL

STEP 1: Click the following link below. This will take you to the ILL homepage.

Be sure to read all information on that page before proceeding.

STEP 2: Click the following link below to get into ILLiad. This is the software system you will use to submit your request.

Enter your username and password and click the "Logon" button.

FOR NEW USERS ONLY: If you've never used ILLiad at UT Tyler before, you'll need to create a new account. You can do that by clicking on the link labeled "First Time Users" on the login page.

Carefully read the directions on how to set up your new ILL account. At the bottom of the page is a gray button labeled "First Time Users Click Here." Click on it to be taken to the ILL account application.

Proceed to complete all information in the electronic application. If you have questions or experience trouble with this form, contact the ILL department for assistance.

When finished, click the "Submit" button at the bottom.

STEP 3: Once you're logged in, you will be at the "Main Menu" screen. You can submit requests by using the column on the left. Under "New Request," select the format of the item you want. For example, if you are requesting a book, click "Book."

You will be taken to a form where you will enter the item information. Enter as much information as you can and make sure the information you enter is correct.

When finished, click the "Submit" button at the bottom.

You can request as many items as you like, but must submit a new request for each individual item.

STEP 4: After you've successfully submitted your request, you will be taken back to the "Main Menu." You should see the request you just submitted under the blue heading labeled "Outstanding Requests."

When your item arrives, you will be notified by e-mail.

If your item is a book, it will be held at the Circulation Desk for you to pick up. If you're a distance student, ILL will post mail the book to you.

If your item is an article, it will appear as a .PDF file under the "Electronically Received Articles" link in ILLiad. Go there to download and/or print it.

You can view your complete ILL history by clicking on the "All Requests" link in the left column.
